LineWise (YC X25)
AI copilot for manufacturers. Diagnose failures, speed up troubleshooting, and onboard staff faster with real-time guidance powered by a growing knowledge base.

LineWise: Solving the Trillion Dollar Problem of Manufacturing Downtime
We are thrilled to announce our investment in LineWise’s pre-seed funding round, joining Y Combinator and a select group of global investors. LineWise is building an AI assistant/co-pilot for manufacturing teams. Using AI to troubleshoot and resolve production issues, this greatly minimizes problems like unplanned downtime that many businesses encounter, eliminating billions of dollars lost.
LineWise Foundering Team
The LineWise founding team combines deep industrial experience with high-level technical skills. CEO James Kujareevanich, an MIT MBA and former McKinsey consultant, specialized in factory efficiency at companies like Rolls-Royce. He is joined by COO Napon Tang-Aromsuk, who led lean manufacturing programs at Rolls-Royce. On the technical side, CTO Zhichu Ren holds an MIT PhD in robotics, while CPO Wenbo Zhang was a founding engineer at a $100M+ valuation industrial startup. This mix of boots-on-the-ground operations knowledge and advanced AI research gives them a significant advantage in solving manufacturing problems. Their credibility is backed by their education at MIT, UPenn, and Imperial College, as well as their selection into Y Combinator, where they are advised by YC Partner Tom Blomfield. The team has already proven their ability to move quickly by signing early pilots with large industrial
organizations.
Market Opportunity: The $1.5 Trillion "Downtime"
LineWise is entering a $40 billion market for manufacturing software at a time when industrial companies face high costs from downtime and a shrinking workforce. Unplanned downtime costs manufacturers an average of $260,000 per hour. Even the 500 biggest companies globally lose approximately $1.5 trillion annually to unplanned outages, which is about 11% of their total revenue. This creates a massive financial incentive for LineWise’s troubleshooting tools. The company is starting with the Food & Beverage sector, where high-speed production and thin margins make any delay expensive. Because this industry relies on a retiring workforce, LineWise uses a multi-agent AI system to capture "tribal knowledge." This system connects directly to PLC sensor logs and SCADA systems to monitor machine health in real-time. It also uses computer vision to turn process videos into step-by-step digital manuals (SOPs), allowing newer technicians to troubleshoot complex equipment by simply chatting with an AI co-pilot. With the Industrial AI market expected to reach $190 billion by 2034, LineWise has a clear path to expand from food production into other high-stakes areas like pharmaceuticals , chemicals, electronics, automotive, and more. If LineWise can get a foothold in one vertical and demonstrate ROI, expansion to others is a huge opportunity.
Early Wins with Global Manufacturers
LineWise is quickly moving from concept to reality, having already secured five paid pilots with large manufacturers, including Nasdaq-listed leaders in the packaging, food and beverage, and consumer electronics industries. These early deployments have shown that the platform provides a return on investment within weeks by significantly reducing the time it takes to fix machines. For example, at one site, the AI-driven "Video-to-SOP" feature cut the time needed to document a repair procedure from several hours down to just minutes.
The company recently closed a $1.1 million pre-seed funding round supported by Y Combinator, A2D Ventures, and several global industrial investors. This capital is being used to expand their engineering team and scale operations across North America and Asia. By proving they can solve problems, LineWise is showing it can handle the most difficult challenges in high-speed manufacturing.
Why we are investing
Our investment in LineWise is based on the team's ability to solve the most expensive problem in the industrial world which is the loss of expert knowledge .By combining a deep understanding of how factories operate with advanced robotics and AI research, they have created a solution that pays for itself almost immediately. We believe LineWise has the right team and the right technology to become the digital backbone for the future of manufacturing.
